141. The carrier shall ensure that a consignment is securely stowed.

142. A package or an overpack may be carried or stored among packaged general cargo without any special stowage provisions if:
(a) its average surface heat flux does not exceed 15 watts per square metre (W/m2) and the immediate surrounding cargo is not in sacks or bags; and
(b) no specific requirements are imposed in the approval certificate.

143. The carrier shall ensure that loading of freight containers and accumulation of packages, overpacks and freight containers:

(a) except under the condition of exclusive use, and for consignments of LSA-I material, the total number of packages, overpacks and freight containers aboard a single conveyance is limited such that the total sum of the transport indexes aboard the conveyance does not exceed the values specified in Table III of the Sixteenth Schedule;
(b) the dose rate under routine conditions of transport shall not exceed 2 mSv/h at any point on, and 0.1 mSv/h at 2 m from the external surface of the vehicle or freight container, except for consignments transported under exclusive use by road or rail, for which the radiation limits around the vehicle as specified in Article 130 (b) and (c); and
(c) the total sum of the criticality safety indexes in a freight container and aboard a conveyance does not exceed the values specified in Table IV of the Sixteenth Schedule.
